JEP

Hi everyone,
We are delighted with our progress so far in the Junior Entrepreneur programme. We are beginning to work our way through the Market Research stage and we will be carrying out surveys and checklists over the next few weeks to see if our BIG IDEA has potential to sell! This stage of the programme is so beneficial for us as we are learning about Market Research and how entrepreneurs carry out research to see if their product will be successful or not.
This research will also help us in deciding the correct way to produce our product. The main point of this programme is that we, as a class, produce a product FROM SCRATCH! We source the materials, we carry out research on what is popular and then we get cracking and start to actually produce the product! Fourth Class will be purchasing materials and making a product that they will sell to their classmates in school. We will be using equipment and materials to make the product in the classroom together!
Keep an eye out on our blog over the next few weeks for some very exciting updates!!

Dragons Den Results

Hi everyone,
So, the BIG IDEA has been chosen! The Dragons results are in and the idea chosen for our Junior Entrepreneur project is…
Stress Balls!!!!

We are so happy with the  Dragons results and we also have learned so much from the experience. We understood that one person or one group couldn’t pick our idea for us and by coming up with many ideas it was such a fair process because every idea had an equal chance of being picked! Well done to every group on their extremely hard work and mature attitude during the whole process. Everyone worked really hard and displayed exemplary attitudes to the results of the Dragon’s Den and we are delighted with the idea chosen. THANK YOU to all .

JEP Dragons Den

Hi everyone! Fourth Class had a very exciting day last Friday. As you all are aware, Fourth Class are completing the Junior Entrepreneur programme this year and are really enjoying it.

After Christmas we split into groups and started discussing ideas that we all had for a potential product or service! As you can imagine, the ideas were endless! However, over the last two weeks, the groups had the difficult task of narrowing down their ideas to just one to present to a group of Dragons last Friday. Each group was given time to plan and compile a five minute presentation which had to include: a brief outline of the product, a rough estimate of cost price and profit margin, an outline of how the product would be made and finally any samples or pictures to go along with it.

The effort some groups put in has to be commended. From hand drawings and sketches of products to actual samples; the children worked so hard. There was a very short time frame for this to be done and the Dragons were more than impressed with the pitches made by each group. The Dragons were asked to judge the five group ideas and to pick one that we can use as a whole class and bring to production over the next few weeks.

Finally, after much discussion, the Dragons made a decision and all has been revealed ! We would just like to say a big THANK YOU to Orlagh Murphy (Enterprise Board), Paula and Paul who so kindly gave up their time to act as our Dragons. They were so kind and had some very encouraging comments for all of Fourth Class which we really appreciated. When the product is produced they will be the first to sample  it!! ðŸ™‚ Now, the difficult task lies ahead and that is producing the product to be ready to be sold and coming up with our marketing plan. We can’t wait to continue!!
