Winter Assembly

Dear parents,

As you know our winter assembly is fast approaching. The children have already started to learn some of the songs for our show and will be practising their lines this week. It is important that the children practise their lines. Remind them when practising to read:

Loudly – Clearly – Fluently- and with lots of Expression!

The theme of their show is based on children’s rights in the musical ‘Annie’. With regard to costumes, if the children have any bright colourful clothes i.e. stripy tights/leggings, multi-coloured t-shirts or any bright t-shirts to wear that would great. Also for the opening scene if you have a big old grey/off white t-shirt belonging to an adult, they will wear this over their colourful clothes.
If the girls could wear their hair in pig tails and the boys have their hair all messy that would be great too! But I will remind you of this closer to the time.
Please do not go out and buy anything as I will have some spares if children are stuck.

Also if anyone has any old tin buckets/mops/brushes/scrubbing brushes and rags/old grey sheets/cloths etc…at home we would love to borrow them.  If you could send them in at some point this week that would be great. Once again it is only if you have them at home.
The children will have a copy of the script in their bags and it will also be on the blog. The songs will also be on the blog too for them to practise. Changes to homework may take place this week with some parts being omitted so that the children can practise.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to email me at belmayneetrachel@gmail.com

Thank you in advance for your help.

Learn Together - Islam

This term 3rd class B have been learning about various parts of the Islam religion and the Muslim traditions. We have explored the history of the religion; The five Pillars, the Qur'an, the prophet Muhammad, religious dress for women and men, Mecca - and the feasts and celebrations held; Ramadan, Eid, Bahrain. Leyla, Ousmane, Clarissa and Husam are all followers of the Islam religion and shared their knowledge and stories with the whole class. Leyla and Ousmane brought in two versions of the Qur'an and Clarissa and Ousmane brought in their religious dress that they use for when they are saying their prayers. They also demonstrated some of their prayers, and we all noted how beautiful and lyrical they sounded while praying. The whole class were extremely interested and we all learned something new. Thank you to the children for sharing their stories and for sharing their faith and traditions with us.

Cross Country 2015

On Tuesday Megan, Leyla, Susan, Clarissa and Ryan from 3rd class B took part in the North Dublin Cross Country held in St. Anne's Park. They all showed huge determination and dedication running in very mucky conditions! Over all the girls whole school team came 3rd and the boys came 2nd! We are all very proud of them. Well done!

A big thank you to Leyla's mum for taking the photos!
