Scout Group Clongriffin

To Adults who expressed an Interest in establishing a Scout Group in Clongriffin.

Dear friends,

We set out late last year to try and set up a Scout Group in the Clongriffin area. However due to various circumstances we were not able to proceed to the establishment stage

The primary reason for this was the Scouting Ireland began a review of it’s training and safeguarding procedures. Initially it was believed that this would be a simple upgrade in line with current best practice, however it transpired into a fundamental review of these procedures and has taken until now to complete the process.

Had I proceeded at the original time it would have meant that leaders who started training in the old scheme would not have been able to complete their training in this stream as the old system was being phased out.

The new scheme was not fully up and running and would have been difficult to access course in the time frame required. The Review is now Complete and a new Training and Safeguarding programmew is up and running

Also for the establishment of new groups there was to be a substantial financial implication which had to be resolved at National Level and this has now been done.

I now believe that we are in a position to proceed with the establishment of a Scout Group in the area and to this end I am inviting all of those Adults who express and interest in establishing a Scout Group to come together in Trinity Scout Centre, Donaghmede (Beside the Credit Union opposite the Shopping Centre) on Tuesday 17th January  at 8.00pm to outline the way forward.

The requirements to establish a scout Group are the sames as before
  • Sufficient Adult Volunteers willing to Train as Leaders
  • Securing a place for the Group to Meet.

I hope you will be able to join us on January 17th and in the meantime can I wish you a happy and peaceful Christmas.
Yours in Scouting

Gerry Hickey

PS:  If you are interested in attending or wish to register your childs name down once the group is up and running please send an email to parentsconnectgroup@gmail.com

Winter Assembly

Homework this week:

The children need to learn their lines and the words to the songs off by heart. Please listen to them reading their lines and encourage them to speak clearly and with expression.

The last song for our assembly is a version of Silent night:

Silent Night, Solstice Night
all is calm, all is bright.
Nature slumbers in forest and glen,
till in Springtime she wakens again.
Sleeping spirits grow strong,
sleeping spirits grow strong.

Dolsa ni,t (neat), pla:sida ni,t (neat)
